Remembering Gwen Altpeter
The Hospital Activity Book for children first began in 1995 and is designed for children keeping their well-being in mind. It became an instant success with the publisher getting community and business support. Through the years, the book distribution base has expanded to hospitals, medical service units, pediatric centers, victim service units and many other services – wherever kids need a healthy distraction during a challenging time. The book is designed with the collaborative efforts of editorial advisors, child life specialists from the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, and Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
The activities in the book target children between the ages of 2 – 12 years old with a wide range of activities for a variety of ages such as dot-to-dot and colouring pages, advanced puzzles, etc. This book serves as a means for professionals and parents to communicate with children about their thoughts, fears, and concerns while experiencing critical situations.
For over 25 years a well over one million copies of this book has been provided to children across Canada distributed through participating hospitals, health care centers and carious victim service programs. PTAG has been a proud supporter and sponsor of The Hospital Activity Book for children for the past 10 years.
PTAG’s association first began with Gwen Altpeter, PTAG’s first Consultant Services Manager who always cared for every person she interacted with and ensured that everybody at PTAG was looked after. Gwen passed away in 2017 and PTAG continues to support Gwen’s legacy by contributing to this cause each year.
For this year’s edition of The Hospital Activity Book, PTAG designed a construction scene for the kids to colour.
